1. Purpose
This policy describes how AFINCE deletes, de-identifies, disconnects, or otherwise disposes of personal and financial information when it is no longer needed or when a verified user requests deletion.
2. Disposal Triggers
- Verified account deletion request.
- User request to disconnect a financial institution or revoke data access.
- Inactive account lifecycle under the Data Retention Policy.
- End of legal, operational, support, or security need.
- Provider, legal, or security requirement to remove data.
3. Account Deletion
Users may request deletion of their AFINCE account and associated personal data by emailing support@afince.com. AFINCE may verify the request before processing it. When verified, AFINCE deletes or de-identifies account information from active systems within a commercially reasonable period, subject to legal holds, security needs, dispute resolution, and backup lifecycle limits.
4. Financial Connection Removal
When a financial connection is disconnected, AFINCE will stop refreshing data for that connection and remove or de-identify related data where appropriate. Provider-side disconnection may also be required through Plaid, the user's financial institution, or platform account settings.
5. Disposal Methods
- Deletion from active databases and storage systems.
- Revocation or removal of provider tokens where supported.
- De-identification or aggregation when data is no longer linked to an identifiable user.
- Backup expiration according to normal backup lifecycle schedules.
- Vendor deletion requests when a vendor stores data on AFINCE's behalf.
6. Backups and Logs
Deleted data may remain in encrypted backups or logs for a limited period until those systems rotate or expire. AFINCE does not restore deleted user data from backups except for security, legal, disaster recovery, or operational integrity needs.
7. Verification
Deletion requests may require verification to protect accounts from unauthorized deletion. AFINCE may keep minimal records showing that a request was received and completed.
